Alan Gumm

Alan Gumm, Central Michigan University professor of music education, has authored theories of conducting functions and music teaching style, and methods for speechless rehearsals, multisensory vocal/choral techniques, and analysis of dynamic musical expression. Gumm previously taught public school in Kansas and higher education in Utah, New York, and Kansas, and presented and toured coast to coast and internationally. He has been recognized with numerous awards for teaching excellence, and his Women’s Chorus was recognized in Saginaw News for its “clear sound, excellent vocal technique and magnificent tuning…musical lines [that] were beautifully shaped…expressive singing at its finest."
